The Camera Obscura was the first stage of photography. Another meaning is the dark chamber. The camera obscura was a room with no windows. It includes one tiny whole with a lens, projected images from the outside of the room onto the far wall inside it. The image was upside down and not very clear. The image was then traced by great artists.

Calotype or talbotype is an early photographic process introduced in 1841 produced by a negative paper with silver. It was created once a paper was exposed to bright light causing a positive image. This was able to produce multiple copies of a single image! Though it was not as clear as the dageurro type because of the multiple copies.
